we have 24 hours operating first aid that is providing immediate therapeutic and diagnostic care on emergency cases.At the department we have vastly experienced doctors and nurses along with some specialist to make sure that you receive the least painful treatment and are determined to put back the smile on your face.Depending upon situation, the patients is referred to the concerned specialist for admission and further management.

The CHIL currently provides testing in the following specialties; Haematology and Blood Transfusion, clinical chemistry, immunology, Parasitology, Histopathology and Microbiology. The CHIL is ready to participate in National and International laboratory service activities and research programs.

SCOPE OF LABORATORY SERVICES

This quality manual outlines and communicates the Consolata Hospital Ikonda Laboratory’s Quality Management Systems. It provides guidance to the Laboratory members of staff and its stakeholders on the laboratory’s aim to provide quality, appropriate, cost effective and timely services to meet customer satisfaction and effectively fulfill its stated mission and objective. CHIL provides diagnostic services in the following fields of Medical Laboratory.

• Clinical chemistry– Laboratory provides Renal function test, Liver function test, Uric Acid, Total cholesterol, Total Protein, Amylase test, CRP, Thyroid hormones, Fertility hormones(FSH,LH,PROG,PRL,BHCG,Testosterone)Tumour markers(PSA,AFP,CA125) Cardiac Markers(BNP,MYO,Troponin), Thyroid Function Tests(T3,T4,TSH), Hb1Ac,D-Dimer Blood sugar and Electrolytes, Arterial/Venous blood gases Infectious Diseases (HIV,Syphilis,Heapatits)
• Hematology & Blood Transfusion – Laboratory provides Full Blood Count tests, ESR, Sickling Test, CD4,Coagulation tests, Peripheral blood Smear Analysis Blood Grouping and Cross matching, blood Transfusion Services, Blood Donation Services.
• Serology – Rapid HIV testing, HBsAg, HCV, Pregnancy tests, VDRLH.pylori Antibody Test, Widal test, TPHA and Brucella test.
• Microbiology/Bacteriology – Culture and antibiotic sensitivity for Stool, urine, HVS, Urethral swab, Pus swab, ear swab, eye swab, rectal swab, CSF, Pleural, Ascetic, throat swab for microscopy and cultures and Blood culture. TB Microscopy- ZN and Fluorescence,  GeneXpert TB Diagnosis, Gram stain, CSF microscopy and cell count, Indian Ink, Semen analysis and KOH for fungal infection
• Parasitology – Stool examination for Intestinal Parasites, Blood slide for hem parasites, Urinalysis and urine-microscopy, Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Test as Point of Care service, stool for occult blood, stool for H.Pylori
• Histopathology – Histology and Cytology services for tissue and Biopsy,Cancer screening(FNAC,PAP Smear)

Consolata Ikonda is home to 6 Operating Theatres, adjacent to the Emergency Department  and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) .The Operating Theatres are connected with Hospital Management System, easily accessible by the medical team and professions to update the necessary patient data.

Operating Theaters are designed to be the most optimal efficiency to facilitate a seamless operational flow for performing many surgical operations. All of our surgery suites is equipped with sophisticated and most advanced equipment.

he existing Care &Treatment at Consolata Ikonda Hospital  is focusing on increasing the number of people on ART and linking PLHIV to the community. From the beginning provision of services for adults and children was harmonized so that parents could receive services at the same time as their children. The Hospital has been receiving funds and other working tools like stationeries from  AFYA YANGU to implement Care & Treatment services for adults and children.
